The most common mistakes men with beards make

We all make mistakes in many areas, but if we can avoid them, it's all the better. Many men with beards frequently make these beard care mistakes:

Poor skin hydration

Poorly hydrated skin will cause itching and irritation. Not to mention beard growth, which if not well hydrated, will not grow aesthetically at all. For this reason, it is necessary to take care of your skin.

Using a beard oil will help correct these problems. The beard oil should be applied deeply, ensuring it penetrates well by massaging from the roots to the tips.

Never trim a wet beard

Trimming the beard is certainly one of the most difficult aspects of maintaining it. When the beard is wet, you risk trimming more than you want. Keep in mind that it only regains its normal appearance when it dries.

Also, never comb a wet beard. This makes the hair more fragile and there's a risk of hair breakage with each comb pass. Therefore, it is recommended to wait until it is completely dry.

Define the contours

Defined contours will give the beard a clean and tidy appearance. However, be careful not to shave them too high as it would give an impression of a disproportionate look that wouldn't suit the shape of the face.

Don't hesitate to use a professional contouring machine, as it is an excellent tool for precisely trimming your beard contours.

Define the cheek line

This area is also difficult to define. Some men prefer to leave this line natural, while others shave it to draw a line. However, the contour of the cheek line should be drawn the same on both the left and right sides. If it's not symmetrical, it might be necessary to shave more so that both sides are at the same level. It's recommended to keep the cheek line as natural as possible. Don't forget to shave the small hairs growing at the top of the cheek that aren't very aesthetic.

Don't wash your beard with shower gel or regular soap

Washing the beard with shower gel is one of the most common mistakes. The shower gel is too harsh for the facial skin because it is thinner and more fragile than the skin on the rest of the body. Don't use regular soap either as it will dry the skin and this action causes itching and irritation.

It's preferable to use a shampoo, special beard gel that will cleanse your beard completely without attacking the facial skin.

Stop comparing your beard to another man's

Comparing yourself to someone else is one of the biggest mistakes of the century. We like to compare ourselves constantly. And it's the same with beards. It's very important to remember that each person is unique and, therefore, each has their own beard; what's important is to take care of it properly and know how to care for and adapt to what we already have.
