The most common mistakes men make with beards

We all make mistakes in many areas, but if we can avoid them, it's all the better. Many bearded men frequently make these mistakes in beard care:

Poor skin hydration

Poorly hydrated skin will cause itching and irritation. Not to mention beard growth, which if not sufficiently hydrated will not grow aesthetically. For this reason, it is necessary to take care of your skin.

Using beard oil will help to correct these problems. Beard oil should be applied deeply, ensuring it penetrates well by massaging from roots to tips.

Never cut a wet beard

Cutting a beard is certainly one of the most difficult aspects of its maintenance. When the beard is wet, you risk cutting more than you want. Remember that it returns to its normal appearance only once it dries.

Also, never comb a wet beard. This makes the hair more fragile and there's a risk of further breakage with each stroke of the comb. Therefore, it's recommended to wait until it is completely dry.

Define the contours

Defined contours will give the beard a clean and groomed appearance. Be careful not to shave them too high, as it would give an impression of disproportion and would not suit the shape of the face.

Do not hesitate to use a professional contour machine, as this is an excellent tool for cutting beard contours precisely.

Define the cheek line

This area is also difficult to define. Some men prefer to leave this line natural, while others shave it by tracing a line. However, the contour of the cheek line should be traced the same way on both the left and right. If it's not symmetrical, you'll need to shave more for both sides to be at the same level. It's advisable to keep the cheek line as natural as possible. Don't forget to shave the small hairs that grow on the top of the cheek and are not very aesthetic.

Do not wash the beard with shower gel or regular soap

Washing the beard with shower gel is one of the most common mistakes. Shower gel is too harsh for facial skin as it is thinner and more fragile than the rest of the body. Do not use regular soap either, as it will dry out the skin and this action causes itching and irritation.

It is preferable to use a shampoo, special beard gel that will thoroughly clean the beard without being harsh on the facial skin.

Do not compare your beard with another man's

Comparing yourself to someone else is one of the greatest mistakes of the century. We love to constantly compare ourselves. And the same goes for beards. It is very important to remember that every person is unique and, therefore, everyone has their own beard; the important thing is to take proper care of it and know how to manage and adapt to what you already have.
