7 myths about hair care

As in any other field, myths also make themselves heard when talking about proper hair care. However, some misconceptions or "rituals of the past" can affect our hair, which is why every man must be able to distinguish between truth and constantly spread errors.

Well-groomed and voluminous hair will surely boost your self-confidence and, naturally, fully complement your masculine look. And in the end, who wouldn't want an additional boost of self-confidence, especially if we're talking about one derived from an impeccable physical appearance?

Discover in the following paragraphs which hair care myths you should no longer believe from now on:

     1. Pulling out gray hair will make more of that type grow

Who hasn't heard this myth? Well, fortunately for us, such an idea does not cross the boundaries of myths, being as wrong as possible. "Eliminating" the first signs of aging will not accelerate this process in any way.

However, this does not mean that gray hair should be a reason for shame or discomfort. On the contrary, most people find men with gray hair much more attractive, even if it's a hereditary process and not a real sign of aging.

     2. Wearing hats will lead to hair loss

For this aspect to be true, the hat you wear should be extremely tight, enough to impede proper circulation at the scalp level and, furthermore, should be used excessively.

Even though hats or caps don't cause hair loss, wearing such an item daily could lead to the breaking or deterioration of hair strands due to the continuous pressure they are subjected to.

So, even if you are a fan of such male accessories, we recommend taking a break now and then, letting the scalp breathe and relax.

     3. Dandruff is just a sign of a dry scalp

Do you think "snowy shoulders" are just a simple sign of a dry scalp? Think again.

One of the most common issues men face, dandruff, is often confused with a dehydrated scalp because the symptoms of the two conditions are similar, but not identical.

Scientists claim that dandruff is a skin imbalance caused by the growth of a yeast-like fungus. Triggering a skin inflammation of the scalp, this fungus leads to the shedding of the skin's outer layers, precisely the appearance of those white flakes seen in hair and on clothes.

Therefore, consuming more water or resorting to other hydration methods will not slow the process of dandruff appearance, although they are beneficial for health. It is more advisable to use an antifungal shampoo, specially formulated to solve this condition and to soothe the scalp until the problem is resolved.

     4. Hair needs to be washed with shampoo every day to keep it clean

Similar to the above situations, excessive shampooing of hair is just a myth, being an action that leads to the removal of beneficial oils for the hair and not just impurities.

Moreover, this ritual varies from person to person, depending on the hair type, scalp, but also the interval of hair greasiness. Although specialists recommend a break of about two days between washes, if you have healthy hair, you can leave it even for a longer period without shampooing.

     5. The more often you cut your hair, the faster it will grow

Nothing could be more false! There's nothing wrong with scheduling a weekly visit to the hair salon. This shows that you care about your appearance and, therefore, wish to improve it as much as possible.

However, the fear that your hair won't grow quickly if you don't cut it very often is not justified at all. Mainly, the speed of hair growth is determined by one's genes, but also by the adopted lifestyle (factors such as diet, the level of stress faced, etc).

If you lead the healthiest lifestyle possible and don't neglect the proper hair care ritual (trimming at optimal intervals, using products that restore vitality and ensure good health, periodic shampooing, etc), you will enjoy constantly regenerating hair.

     6. A cheap haircut is no different from a more expensive one

As in many other situations in life, you get exactly what you pay for in this case as well. This means that the services offered by a professional hairstylist reach higher prices because they have invested, in turn, in training, professional equipment, and high-quality hair care products, all of which lead to achieving a successful look.

Of course, if you want a military-style haircut, then you certainly don't need a barber specialist, but you can handle this aspect in the comfort of your home with the help of a hair clipper.

     7. A shampoo that produces more foam is more effective than others

When it comes to the effectiveness of shampoos for cleaning hair, foam is not a fair criterion for selection.

Therefore, instead of guiding yourself with this, try to pay more attention to the ingredients your favorite shampoo is based on. If it produces more foam, but contains sulfates, chemicals, parabens, and preservatives, it is certainly not the help your hair needs to successfully withstand all challenges.

Which of the above myths have you considered so far? Well, now that you know exactly which misconceptions to ignore, we recommend guiding your hair care ritual by following the advice of industry professionals, such as experienced hairstylists who always use professional hair care products.
